Bill Stone
President & CEO | Broker of Record
Prior to co-founding Beechwood, Bill was the Executive Vice President of CBRE Hotels, where, since 2010 he established and led one of the largest hotel brokerage and advisory firms in Canada. He brings tremendous experience in structuring and negotiating hotel transactions, particularly complex opportunities with brand, management, land lease and transactional encumbrances. He is a respected advisor when determining hotel values and management contract and franchise agreement negotiations. Bill brings with him a deep resource of global hotel and real estate relationships. Bill also owns Big Picture Conferences, which annually produces the hotel industry’s preeminent Canadian Hotel Investment and Western Canadian Lodging Conferences, along with smaller industry and hotel company events.
Previously, Bill was Executive Managing Director at Colliers International Hotels and worked as a hotel real estate advisor at Laventhol & Horwath. Bill is an alumnus of the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University. He previously held a six-year term on the Board of Directors for the York School, a portion of which was spent chairing its Premises Committee. He also previously served a one-year term as Director for the Hotel Association of Canada.

Deborah Borotsik
Senior Vice President | Sales Representative
Deborah co-founded Beechwood, with previous experience being Vice President of CBRE Hotels, where she was focused on acquisition and disposition valuations, strategic advisory and client management. She brings over two decades of sales, marketing and underwriting experience in the Canadian hotel and resort industry. Deborah also worked at Colliers International, Price Waterhouse and Laventhol & Horwath providing real estate sales support and undertaking numerous market, feasibility, valuation and impact studies. Deborah has developed an extensive international network of hotel and real estate relationships.
Deborah is an alumna of Toronto Metropolitan University. She is a Memory Volunteer with Acclaim Health and previously served as a director for the North Halton Girls Hockey Association and Georgetown Skating Club.
Sylvia Occhiuzzi
Senior Vice President | Sales representative
Sylvia is a principal in Beechwood with more than 20 years of hotel industry experience and a diverse background that includes hotel advisory and brokerage, international brand development and financial underwriting. Sylvia worked at CBRE Hotels as a sales professional, responsible for growing the hotel private capital market in central and eastern Canada. Prior to CBRE Sylvia worked on the development team at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, sourcing and securing new development opportunities in Europe and the U.S. She also worked at Colliers International, both in brokerage and CMBS and conventional mortgage financing.
Sylvia is an alumna of Toronto Metropolitan University.
Michael Beckley
Director
Michael has led a highly distinguished career within Canada’s hotel industry and has amassed a depth of experience and expansive personal network that are second to none. Michael was Director of CBRE Hotels and focused on expanding its hotel real estate platform. Prior to this Michael served as Senior Vice President of Development for Marriott International in Canada. He was responsible for all of Marriott’s hotel brands in Canada, growing its Canadian presence from 17 hotels to 145.
For over 34 years, Michael has held various senior positions within the industry in Europe, Bermuda, The West Indies and Canada where he was the president of Commonwealth Hospitality. His involvement in the industry includes serving as Chairman of Experience Canada, which led to the foundation of the Canadian Tourism Commission. He also served as Chairman of Ontario’s Tourism Strategy. Further, he co-chaired the fundraising campaign for the new Chefs School at George Brown College in Toronto.
